وَٱلنَّـٰزِعَـٰتِ By those who extract غَرْقًا violently

وَٱلنَّـٰشِطَـٰتِ And those who draw out نَشْطًا gently

وَٱلسَّـٰبِحَـٰتِ And those who glide سَبْحًا swimming

فَٱلسَّـٰبِقَـٰتِ And those who race each other سَبْقًا (in) a race

فَٱلْمُدَبِّرَٰتِ And those who arrange أَمْرًا (the) matter

يَوْمَ (The) Day تَرْجُفُ will quake ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ the quaking one

تَتْبَعُهَا Follows it ٱلرَّادِفَةُ the subsequent

قُلُوبٌ Hearts يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day وَاجِفَةٌ will palpitate

أَبْصَـٰرُهَا Their eyes خَـٰشِعَةٌ humbled

يَقُولُونَ They say أَءِنَّا Will we لَمَرْدُودُونَ indeed be returned فِى to ٱلْحَافِرَةِ the former state

أَءِذَا What! When كُنَّا we are عِظَـٰمًا bones نَّخِرَةً decayed

قَالُوا۟ They say تِلْكَ This إِذًا then كَرَّةٌ (would be) a return خَاسِرَةٌ losing

فَإِنَّمَا Then only هِىَ it زَجْرَةٌ (will be) a shout وَٰحِدَةٌ single

فَإِذَا And behold هُم They بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ (will be) awakened

هَلْ Has أَتَىٰكَ (there) come to you حَدِيثُ (the) story مُوسَىٰٓ (of) Musa

إِذْ When نَادَىٰهُ called him رَبُّهُۥ his Lord بِٱلْوَادِ in the valley ٱلْمُقَدَّسِ the sacred طُوًى (of) Tuwa

ٱذْهَبْ Go إِلَىٰ to فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he طَغَىٰ (has) transgressed

فَقُلْ And say هَل Would لَّكَ [for] you إِلَىٰٓ [to] أَن [that] تَزَكَّىٰ purify yourself

وَأَهْدِيَكَ And I will guide you إِلَىٰ to رَبِّكَ your Lord فَتَخْشَىٰ so you would fear

فَأَرَىٰهُ Then he showed him ٱلْـَٔايَةَ the sign ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ the great

فَكَذَّبَ But he denied وَعَصَىٰ and disobeyed

ثُمَّ Then أَدْبَرَ he turned his back يَسْعَىٰ striving

فَحَشَرَ And he gathered فَنَادَىٰ and called out

فَقَالَ Then he said أَنَا۠ I am رَبُّكُمُ your Lord ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ the Most High

فَأَخَذَهُ So seized him ٱللَّهُ Allah نَكَالَ (with) an exemplary punishment ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ (for) the last وَٱلْأُولَىٰٓ and the first

إِنَّ Indeed فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَعِبْرَةً surely (is) a lesson لِّمَن for whoever يَخْشَىٰٓ fears

ءَأَنتُمْ Are you أَشَدُّ a more difficult خَلْقًا creation أَمِ or ٱلسَّمَآءُ the heaven ۚ   بَنَىٰهَا He constructed it

رَفَعَ He raised سَمْكَهَا its ceiling فَسَوَّىٰهَا and proportioned it

وَأَغْطَشَ And He darkened لَيْلَهَا its night وَأَخْرَجَ and brought out ضُحَىٰهَا its brightness

وَٱلْأَرْضَ And the earth بَعْدَ after ذَٰلِكَ that دَحَىٰهَآ He spread it

أَخْرَجَ He brought forth مِنْهَا from it مَآءَهَا its water وَمَرْعَىٰهَا and its pasture

وَٱلْجِبَالَ And the mountains أَرْسَىٰهَا He made them firm

مَتَـٰعًا (As) a provision لَّكُمْ for you وَلِأَنْعَـٰمِكُمْ and for your cattle

فَإِذَا But when جَآءَتِ comes ٱلطَّآمَّةُ the Overwhelming Calamity ٱلْكُبْرَىٰ the great

يَوْمَ (The) Day يَتَذَكَّرُ will remember ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ man مَا what سَعَىٰ he strove (for)

وَبُرِّزَتِ And will be made manifest ٱلْجَحِيمُ the Hellfire لِمَن to (him) who يَرَىٰ sees

فَأَمَّا Then as for مَن (him) who طَغَىٰ transgressed

وَءَاثَرَ And preferred ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ the life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world

فَإِنَّ Then indeed ٱلْجَحِيمَ the Hellfire هِىَ it ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ (is) the refuge

وَأَمَّا But as for مَنْ (him) who خَافَ feared مَقَامَ standing رَبِّهِۦ (before) his Lord وَنَهَى and restrained ٱلنَّفْسَ his soul عَنِ from ٱلْهَوَىٰ the vain desires

فَإِنَّ Then indeed ٱلْجَنَّةَ Paradise هِىَ it (is) ٱلْمَأْوَىٰ the refuge

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ They ask you عَنِ about ٱلسَّاعَةِ the Hour أَيَّانَ when مُرْسَىٰهَا (is) its arrival

فِيمَ In what أَنتَ (are) you مِن [of] ذِكْرَىٰهَآ (to) mention it

إِلَىٰ To رَبِّكَ your Lord مُنتَهَىٰهَآ (is) its finality

إِنَّمَآ Only أَنتَ you مُنذِرُ (are) a warner مَن (for him) who يَخْشَىٰهَا fears it

كَأَنَّهُمْ As though they يَوْمَ (the) Day يَرَوْنَهَا they see it لَمْ not يَلْبَثُوٓا۟ they had remained إِلَّا except عَشِيَّةً an evening أَوْ or ضُحَىٰهَا a morning thereof
