الٓمٓ Alif Laam Meem

ٱللَّهُ Allah لَآ (there is) no إِلَـٰهَ God إِلَّا except هُوَ Him ٱلْحَىُّ the Ever-Living ٱلْقَيُّومُ the Sustainer of all that exists

نَزَّلَ He revealed عَلَيْكَ to you ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book بِٱلْحَقِّ in [the] truth مُصَدِّقًا confirming لِّمَا that which بَيْنَ (was) يَدَيْهِ before it وَأَنزَلَ and He revealed ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ the Taurat وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ and the Injeel

مِن From قَبْلُ before (this) هُدًى (as) guidance لِّلنَّاسِ for the mankind وَأَنزَلَ And (He) revealed ٱلْفُرْقَانَ the Criterion ۗ   إِنَّ Verily ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve[d] بِـَٔايَـٰتِ in (the) Verses ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah لَهُمْ for them عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment شَدِيدٌ severe ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah عَزِيزٌ (is) All-Mighty ذُو All-Able ٱنتِقَامٍ (of) retribution

إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا not يَخْفَىٰ is hidden عَلَيْهِ from Him شَىْءٌ anything فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth وَلَا and not فِى in ٱلسَّمَآءِ the heaven

هُوَ He ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who يُصَوِّرُكُمْ shapes you فِى in ٱلْأَرْحَامِ the wombs كَيْفَ how(ever) يَشَآءُ He wills ۚ   لَآ (There is) no إِلَـٰهَ god إِلَّا except هُوَ Him ٱلْعَزِيزُ the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise

هُوَ He ٱلَّذِىٓ (is) the One Who أَنزَلَ revealed عَلَيْكَ to you ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book مِنْهُ of it ءَايَـٰتٌ (are) Verses مُّحْكَمَـٰتٌ absolutely clear هُنَّ they (are) أُمُّ the foundation ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book وَأُخَرُ and others مُتَشَـٰبِهَـٰتٌ (are) allegorical ۖ   فَأَمَّا Then as for ٱلَّذِينَ those فِى in قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts زَيْغٌ (is) perversity فَيَتَّبِعُونَ [so] they follow مَا what تَشَـٰبَهَ (is) allegorical مِنْهُ of it ٱبْتِغَآءَ seeking ٱلْفِتْنَةِ [the] discord وَٱبْتِغَآءَ and seeking تَأْوِيلِهِۦ its interpretation ۗ   وَمَا And not يَعْلَمُ knows تَأْوِيلَهُۥٓ its interpretation إِلَّا except ٱللَّهُ Allah ۗ   وَٱلرَّٰسِخُونَ And those firm فِى in ٱلْعِلْمِ [the] knowledge يَقُولُونَ they say ءَامَنَّا We believe بِهِۦ in it كُلٌّ All مِّنْ (is) عِندِ from رَبِّنَا our Lord ۗ   وَمَا And not يَذَّكَّرُ will take heed إِلَّآ except أُو۟لُوا۟ men ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ (of) understanding

رَبَّنَا Our Lord لَا (Do) not تُزِغْ deviate قُلُوبَنَا our hearts بَعْدَ after إِذْ [when] هَدَيْتَنَا You (have) guided us وَهَبْ and grant لَنَا (for) us مِن from لَّدُنكَ Yourself رَحْمَةً mercy ۚ   إِنَّكَ Indeed You أَنتَ You ٱلْوَهَّابُ (are) the Bestower

رَبَّنَآ Our Lord إِنَّكَ Indeed, You جَامِعُ will gather ٱلنَّاسِ [the] mankind لِيَوْمٍ on a Day لَّا (there is) no رَيْبَ doubt فِيهِ in it ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا (does) not يُخْلِفُ break ٱلْمِيعَادَ the Promise

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve[d] لَن never تُغْنِىَ will avail عَنْهُمْ [for] them أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ their wealth وَلَآ and not أَوْلَـٰدُهُم their children مِّنَ against ٱللَّهِ Allah شَيْـًٔا anything ۖ   وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ and those هُمْ they (are) وَقُودُ (the) fuel ٱلنَّارِ (for) the Fire

كَدَأْبِ Like behavior ءَالِ (of the) people فِرْعَوْنَ (of) Firaun وَٱلَّذِينَ and those who مِن (were) from قَبْلِهِمْ before them ۚ   كَذَّبُوا۟ They denied بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا Our Signs فَأَخَذَهُمُ so seized them ٱللَّهُ Allah بِذُنُوبِهِمْ for their sins ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah شَدِيدُ (is) severe ٱلْعِقَابِ (in) [the] punishment

قُل Say لِّلَّذِينَ to those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve[d] سَتُغْلَبُونَ You will be overcome وَتُحْشَرُونَ and you will be gathered إِلَىٰ to جَهَنَّمَ Hell ۚ   وَبِئْسَ [and] an evil ٱلْمِهَادُ [the] resting place

قَدْ Surely كَانَ it was لَكُمْ for you ءَايَةٌ a sign فِى in فِئَتَيْنِ (the) two hosts ٱلْتَقَتَا which met ۖ   فِئَةٌ one group تُقَـٰتِلُ fighting فِى in سَبِيلِ (the) way ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَأُخْرَىٰ and another كَافِرَةٌ disbelievers يَرَوْنَهُم They were seeing them مِّثْلَيْهِمْ twice of them رَأْىَ with the sight ٱلْعَيْنِ (of) their eyes ۚ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah يُؤَيِّدُ supports بِنَصْرِهِۦ with His help مَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills ۗ   إِنَّ Indeed فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَعِبْرَةً surely (is) a lesson لِّأُو۟لِى for the owners ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ (of) vision

زُيِّنَ Beautified لِلنَّاسِ for mankind حُبُّ (is) love ٱلشَّهَوَٰتِ (of) the (things they) desire مِنَ of ٱلنِّسَآءِ [the] women وَٱلْبَنِينَ and [the] sons وَٱلْقَنَـٰطِيرِ and [the] heaps ٱلْمُقَنطَرَةِ [the] stored up مِنَ of ٱلذَّهَبِ [the] gold وَٱلْفِضَّةِ and [the] silver وَٱلْخَيْلِ and [the] horses ٱلْمُسَوَّمَةِ [the] branded وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ and [the] cattle وَٱلْحَرْثِ and [the] tilled land ۗ   ذَٰلِكَ That مَتَـٰعُ (is) provision ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (of) life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world ۖ   وَٱللَّهُ but Allah عِندَهُۥ with Him حُسْنُ (is an) excellent ٱلْمَـَٔابِ [the] abode to return

قُلْ Say أَؤُنَبِّئُكُم Shall I inform you بِخَيْرٍ of better مِّن than ذَٰلِكُمْ that ۚ   لِلَّذِينَ For those who ٱتَّقَوْا۟ fear[ed] عِندَ with رَبِّهِمْ their Lord جَنَّـٰتٌ (are) Gardens تَجْرِى flows مِن from تَحْتِهَا underneath them ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ [the] rivers خَـٰلِدِينَ abiding forever فِيهَا in it وَأَزْوَٰجٌ and spouses مُّطَهَّرَةٌ pure وَرِضْوَٰنٌ and approval مِّنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah بَصِيرٌۢ (is) All-Seer بِٱلْعِبَادِ of (His) slaves

ٱلَّذِينَ Those who يَقُولُونَ say رَبَّنَآ Our Lord إِنَّنَآ Indeed, we ءَامَنَّا (have) believed فَٱغْفِرْ so forgive لَنَا for us ذُنُوبَنَا our sins وَقِنَا and save us عَذَابَ (from) punishment ٱلنَّارِ (of) the Fire

ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ The patient وَٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ and the truthful وَٱلْقَـٰنِتِينَ and the obedient وَٱلْمُنفِقِينَ and those who spend وَٱلْمُسْتَغْفِرِينَ and those who seek forgiveness بِٱلْأَسْحَارِ [in the] before dawn

شَهِدَ Bears witness ٱللَّهُ Allah أَنَّهُۥ that [He] لَآ (there is) no إِلَـٰهَ god إِلَّا except هُوَ Him وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ and (so do) the Angels وَأُو۟لُوا۟ and owners ٱلْعِلْمِ (of) [the] knowledge قَآئِمًۢا standing بِٱلْقِسْطِ in justice ۚ   لَآ (There is) no إِلَـٰهَ god إِلَّا except هُوَ Him ٱلْعَزِيزُ the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلدِّينَ the religion عِندَ near ٱللَّهِ Allah ٱلْإِسْلَـٰمُ (is) Islam ۗ   وَمَا And not ٱخْتَلَفَ differed ٱلَّذِينَ those who أُوتُوا۟ were given ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book إِلَّا except مِنۢ from بَعْدِ after مَا [what] جَآءَهُمُ came to them ٱلْعِلْمُ [the] knowledge بَغْيًۢا out of envy بَيْنَهُمْ among them ۗ   وَمَن And whoever يَكْفُرْ disbelieves بِـَٔايَـٰتِ in (the) Verses ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah فَإِنَّ then indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah سَرِيعُ (is) swift ٱلْحِسَابِ (in taking) account

فَإِنْ Then if حَآجُّوكَ they argue with you فَقُلْ then say أَسْلَمْتُ I have submitted وَجْهِىَ myself لِلَّهِ to Allah وَمَنِ and (those) who ٱتَّبَعَنِ follow me ۗ   وَقُل And say لِّلَّذِينَ to those who أُوتُوا۟ were given ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book وَٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ and the unlettered people ءَأَسْلَمْتُمْ Have you submitted yourselves ۚ   فَإِنْ Then if أَسْلَمُوا۟ they submit فَقَدِ then surely ٱهْتَدَوا۟ they are guided ۖ   وَّإِن But if تَوَلَّوْا۟ they turn back فَإِنَّمَا then only عَلَيْكَ on you ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ (is) to [the] convey ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah بَصِيرٌۢ (is) All-Seer بِٱلْعِبَادِ of [His] slaves

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who يَكْفُرُونَ disbelieve بِـَٔايَـٰتِ in (the) Signs (of) ٱللَّهِ Allah وَيَقْتُلُونَ and they kill ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ the Prophets بِغَيْرِ without حَقٍّ right وَيَقْتُلُونَ and they kill ٱلَّذِينَ those who يَأْمُرُونَ order بِٱلْقِسْطِ [with] justice مِنَ among ٱلنَّاسِ the people فَبَشِّرْهُم then give them tidings بِعَذَابٍ of a punishment أَلِيمٍ painful

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ٱلَّذِينَ (are) the ones who حَبِطَتْ became worthless أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ their deeds فِى in ٱلدُّنْيَا the world وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ and (in) the Hereafter وَمَا And not لَهُم (will be) for them مِّن any نَّـٰصِرِينَ helpers

أَلَمْ Have not تَرَ you seen إِلَى [to] ٱلَّذِينَ those who أُوتُوا۟ were given نَصِيبًا a portion مِّنَ of ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ the Scripture يُدْعَوْنَ They are invited إِلَىٰ to كِتَـٰبِ (the) Book ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah لِيَحْكُمَ that (it should) arbitrate بَيْنَهُمْ between them ثُمَّ then يَتَوَلَّىٰ turns away فَرِيقٌ a party مِّنْهُمْ of them وَهُم and they (are) مُّعْرِضُونَ those who are averse

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَالُوا۟ say لَن Never تَمَسَّنَا will touch us ٱلنَّارُ the Fire إِلَّآ except أَيَّامًا (for) days مَّعْدُودَٰتٍ numbered ۖ   وَغَرَّهُمْ And deceived them فِى in دِينِهِم their religion مَّا what كَانُوا۟ they were يَفْتَرُونَ inventing

فَكَيْفَ Then how (will it be) إِذَا when جَمَعْنَـٰهُمْ We will gather them لِيَوْمٍ on a Day لَّا no رَيْبَ doubt فِيهِ in it وَوُفِّيَتْ And will be paid in full كُلُّ every نَفْسٍ soul مَّا what كَسَبَتْ it earned وَهُمْ and they لَا (will) not يُظْلَمُونَ be wronged

قُلِ Say ٱللَّهُمَّ O Allah مَـٰلِكَ Owner ٱلْمُلْكِ (of) the Dominion تُؤْتِى You give ٱلْمُلْكَ the dominion مَن (to) whom تَشَآءُ You will وَتَنزِعُ and You take away ٱلْمُلْكَ the dominion مِمَّن from whom تَشَآءُ You will وَتُعِزُّ and You honor مَن whom تَشَآءُ You will وَتُذِلُّ and You humiliate مَن whom تَشَآءُ You will ۖ   بِيَدِكَ In Your hand ٱلْخَيْرُ (is all) the good ۖ   إِنَّكَ Indeed, You عَلَىٰ (are) on كُلِّ every شَىْءٍ thing قَدِيرٌ All-Powerful

تُولِجُ You cause to enter ٱلَّيْلَ the night فِى in ٱلنَّهَارِ the day وَتُولِجُ and You cause to enter ٱلنَّهَارَ the day فِى in ٱلَّيْلِ the night ۖ   وَتُخْرِجُ and You bring forth ٱلْحَىَّ the living مِنَ from ٱلْمَيِّتِ the dead وَتُخْرِجُ and You bring forth ٱلْمَيِّتَ the dead مِنَ from ٱلْحَىِّ the living ۖ   وَتَرْزُقُ and You give provision مَن (to) whom تَشَآءُ You will بِغَيْرِ without حِسَابٍ measure

لَّا (Let) not يَتَّخِذِ take ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ the believers ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers أَوْلِيَآءَ (as) allies مِن from دُونِ instead of ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers ۖ   وَمَن And whoever يَفْعَلْ does ذَٰلِكَ that فَلَيْسَ then not he (has) مِنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah فِى in شَىْءٍ anything إِلَّآ except أَن that تَتَّقُوا۟ you fear مِنْهُمْ from them تُقَىٰةً (as) a precaution ۗ   وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ And warns you ٱللَّهُ Allah نَفْسَهُۥ (of) Himself ۗ   وَإِلَى and to ٱللَّهِ Allah ٱلْمَصِيرُ (is) the final return

قُلْ Say إِن Whether تُخْفُوا۟ you conceal مَا what فِى (is) in صُدُورِكُمْ your breasts أَوْ or تُبْدُوهُ you disclose it يَعْلَمْهُ knows it ٱللَّهُ Allah ۗ   وَيَعْلَمُ And He knows مَا what فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَمَا and what فِى (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah عَلَىٰ (is) on كُلِّ every شَىْءٍ thing قَدِيرٌ All-Powerful

يَوْمَ (On the) day تَجِدُ will find كُلُّ every نَفْسٍ soul مَّا what عَمِلَتْ it did مِنْ of خَيْرٍ good مُّحْضَرًا presented وَمَا and what عَمِلَتْ it did مِن of سُوٓءٍ evil تَوَدُّ it will wish لَوْ [if] أَنَّ that بَيْنَهَا between itself وَبَيْنَهُۥٓ and between it (evil) أَمَدًۢا (was) a distance بَعِيدًا great ۗ   وَيُحَذِّرُكُمُ And warns you ٱللَّهُ Allah نَفْسَهُۥ (against) Himself ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ and Allah رَءُوفٌۢ (is) Most Kind بِٱلْعِبَادِ to (His) [the] slaves

قُلْ Say إِن If كُنتُمْ you تُحِبُّونَ love ٱللَّهَ Allah فَٱتَّبِعُونِى then follow me يُحْبِبْكُمُ will love you ٱللَّهُ Allah وَيَغْفِرْ and He will forgive لَكُمْ for you ذُنُوبَكُمْ your sins ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah غَفُورٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful

قُلْ Say أَطِيعُوا۟ Obey ٱللَّهَ Allah وَٱلرَّسُولَ and the Messenger ۖ   فَإِن Then if تَوَلَّوْا۟ they turn away فَإِنَّ then indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا (does) not يُحِبُّ love ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers

إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah ٱصْطَفَىٰٓ chose ءَادَمَ Adam وَنُوحًا and Nuh وَءَالَ and (the) family إِبْرَٰهِيمَ (of) Ibrahim وَءَالَ and (the) family عِمْرَٰنَ (of) Imran عَلَى over ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ the worlds

ذُرِّيَّةًۢ Descendents بَعْضُهَا some of them مِنۢ from بَعْضٍ others ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah سَمِيعٌ (is) All-Hearing عَلِيمٌ All-Knowing

إِذْ When قَالَتِ [she] said ٱمْرَأَتُ (the) wife عِمْرَٰنَ (of) Imran رَبِّ My Lord إِنِّى Indeed, I نَذَرْتُ [I] vowed لَكَ to You مَا what فِى (is) in بَطْنِى my womb مُحَرَّرًا dedicated فَتَقَبَّلْ so accept مِنِّىٓ from me ۖ   إِنَّكَ Indeed, You أَنتَ You ٱلسَّمِيعُ (are) the All-Hearing ٱلْعَلِيمُ the All-Knowing

فَلَمَّا Then when وَضَعَتْهَا she delivered her قَالَتْ she said رَبِّ My Lord إِنِّى indeed I وَضَعْتُهَآ [I] (have) delivered [her] أُنثَىٰ a female وَٱللَّهُ And Allah أَعْلَمُ knows better بِمَا [of] what وَضَعَتْ she delivered وَلَيْسَ and is not ٱلذَّكَرُ the male كَٱلْأُنثَىٰ like the female ۖ   وَإِنِّى And that I سَمَّيْتُهَا [I] (have) named her مَرْيَمَ Maryam وَإِنِّىٓ and that I أُعِيذُهَا [I] seek refuge for her بِكَ in You وَذُرِّيَّتَهَا and her offspring مِنَ from ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ the Shaitaan ٱلرَّجِيمِ the rejected

فَتَقَبَّلَهَا So accepted her رَبُّهَا her Lord بِقَبُولٍ with acceptance حَسَنٍ good وَأَنۢبَتَهَا and reared her نَبَاتًا a rearing حَسَنًا good وَكَفَّلَهَا and put her in (the) care زَكَرِيَّا (of) Zakariya ۖ   كُلَّمَا Whenever دَخَلَ entered عَلَيْهَا upon her زَكَرِيَّا Zakariya ٱلْمِحْرَابَ [the] prayer chamber وَجَدَ he found عِندَهَا with her رِزْقًا provision ۖ   قَالَ He said يَـٰمَرْيَمُ O Maryam أَنَّىٰ From where لَكِ for you هَـٰذَا (is) this ۖ   قَالَتْ She said هُوَ This مِنْ (is) عِندِ from ٱللَّهِ Allah ۖ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah يَرْزُقُ gives provision مَن (to) whom يَشَآءُ He wills بِغَيْرِ without حِسَابٍ measure

هُنَالِكَ There only دَعَا invoked زَكَرِيَّا Zakariya رَبَّهُۥ his Lord ۖ   قَالَ he said رَبِّ My Lord هَبْ grant لِى [for] me مِن from لَّدُنكَ Yourself ذُرِّيَّةً offspring طَيِّبَةً pure ۖ   إِنَّكَ Indeed, You سَمِيعُ (are) All-Hearer ٱلدُّعَآءِ (of) the prayer

فَنَادَتْهُ Then called him ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels وَهُوَ when he قَآئِمٌ (was) standing يُصَلِّى praying فِى in ٱلْمِحْرَابِ the prayer chamber أَنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah يُبَشِّرُكَ gives you glad tidings بِيَحْيَىٰ of Yahya مُصَدِّقًۢا confirming بِكَلِمَةٍ [of] a Word مِّنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah وَسَيِّدًا and a noble وَحَصُورًا and chaste وَنَبِيًّا and a Prophet مِّنَ among ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous

قَالَ He said رَبِّ My Lord أَنَّىٰ how يَكُونُ can (there) be لِى for me غُلَـٰمٌ a son وَقَدْ and verily بَلَغَنِىَ has reached me ٱلْكِبَرُ [the] old age وَٱمْرَأَتِى and my wife عَاقِرٌ (is) [a] barren ۖ   قَالَ He said كَذَٰلِكَ Thus ٱللَّهُ Allah يَفْعَلُ does مَا what يَشَآءُ He wills

قَالَ He said رَبِّ My Lord ٱجْعَل make لِّىٓ for me ءَايَةً a sign ۖ   قَالَ He said ءَايَتُكَ your sign أَلَّا (is) that not تُكَلِّمَ you will speak ٱلنَّاسَ (to) the people ثَلَـٰثَةَ (for) three أَيَّامٍ days إِلَّا except رَمْزًا (with) gestures ۗ   وَٱذْكُر And remember رَّبَّكَ your Lord كَثِيرًا much وَسَبِّحْ and glorify (Him) بِٱلْعَشِىِّ in the evening وَٱلْإِبْكَـٰرِ and (in) the morning

وَإِذْ And when قَالَتِ said ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels يَـٰمَرْيَمُ O Maryam إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah ٱصْطَفَىٰكِ (has) chosen you وَطَهَّرَكِ and purified you وَٱصْطَفَىٰكِ and chosen you عَلَىٰ over نِسَآءِ (the) women ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds

يَـٰمَرْيَمُ O Maryam ٱقْنُتِى Be obedient لِرَبِّكِ to your Lord وَٱسْجُدِى and prostrate وَٱرْكَعِى and bow down مَعَ with ٱلرَّٰكِعِينَ those who bow down

ذَٰلِكَ That مِنْ (is) from أَنۢبَآءِ (the) news ٱلْغَيْبِ (of) the unseen نُوحِيهِ We reveal it إِلَيْكَ to you ۚ   وَمَا And not كُنتَ you were لَدَيْهِمْ with them إِذْ when يُلْقُونَ they cast أَقْلَـٰمَهُمْ their pens أَيُّهُمْ (as to) which of them يَكْفُلُ takes charge (of) مَرْيَمَ Maryam وَمَا and not كُنتَ you were لَدَيْهِمْ with them إِذْ when يَخْتَصِمُونَ they (were) disputing

إِذْ When قَالَتِ said ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels يَـٰمَرْيَمُ O Maryam إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah يُبَشِّرُكِ gives you glad tidings بِكَلِمَةٍ of a word مِّنْهُ from Him ٱسْمُهُ his name ٱلْمَسِيحُ (is) the Messiah عِيسَى Isa ٱبْنُ son مَرْيَمَ (of) Maryam وَجِيهًا honored فِى in ٱلدُّنْيَا the world وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ and (in) the Hereafter وَمِنَ and of ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ those brought near (to Allah)

وَيُكَلِّمُ And he will speak ٱلنَّاسَ (to) the people فِى in ٱلْمَهْدِ the cradle وَكَهْلًا and (in) maturity وَمِنَ and (he will be) of ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous

قَالَتْ She said رَبِّ My Lord أَنَّىٰ how يَكُونُ is [it] لِى for me وَلَدٌ a boy وَلَمْ and (has) not يَمْسَسْنِى touch(ed) me بَشَرٌ any man ۖ   قَالَ He said كَذَٰلِكِ Thus ٱللَّهُ Allah يَخْلُقُ creates مَا what يَشَآءُ He wills ۚ   إِذَا When قَضَىٰٓ He decrees أَمْرًا a matter فَإِنَّمَا then only يَقُولُ He says لَهُۥ to it كُن Be فَيَكُونُ and it becomes

وَيُعَلِّمُهُ And He will teach him ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ and [the] wisdom وَٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ and the Taurat وَٱلْإِنجِيلَ and the Injeel

وَرَسُولًا And (make him) a Messenger إِلَىٰ to بَنِىٓ (the) Children إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ (of) Israel أَنِّى Indeed, I قَدْ [surely] جِئْتُكُم [I] (have) come (to) you بِـَٔايَةٍ with a sign مِّن from رَّبِّكُمْ your Lord ۖ   أَنِّىٓ that I أَخْلُقُ [I] design لَكُم for you مِّنَ from ٱلطِّينِ [the] clay كَهَيْـَٔةِ like the form ٱلطَّيْرِ (of) the bird فَأَنفُخُ then I breath فِيهِ into it فَيَكُونُ and it becomes طَيْرًۢا a bird بِإِذْنِ by (the) permission ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ۖ   وَأُبْرِئُ And I cure ٱلْأَكْمَهَ the blind وَٱلْأَبْرَصَ and the leper وَأُحْىِ and I give life ٱلْمَوْتَىٰ (to) the dead بِإِذْنِ by (the) permission ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ۖ   وَأُنَبِّئُكُم And I inform you بِمَا of what تَأْكُلُونَ you eat وَمَا and what تَدَّخِرُونَ you store فِى in بُيُوتِكُمْ your houses ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَـَٔايَةً (is) surely a sign لَّكُمْ for you إِن if كُنتُم you are مُّؤْمِنِينَ believers

وَمُصَدِّقًا And confirming لِّمَا that which بَيْنَ (was) يَدَىَّ before me مِنَ of ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِ the Taurat وَلِأُحِلَّ and so that I make lawful لَكُم for you بَعْضَ some ٱلَّذِى (of) that which حُرِّمَ was forbidden عَلَيْكُمْ to you ۚ   وَجِئْتُكُم And I (have) come to you بِـَٔايَةٍ with a sign مِّن from رَّبِّكُمْ your Lord فَٱتَّقُوا۟ So fear ٱللَّهَ Allah وَأَطِيعُونِ and obey me

إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah رَبِّى (is) my Lord وَرَبُّكُمْ and your Lord فَٱعْبُدُوهُ so worship Him ۗ   هَـٰذَا This صِرَٰطٌ (is) the path مُّسْتَقِيمٌ straight

فَلَمَّآ Then when أَحَسَّ perceived عِيسَىٰ Isa مِنْهُمُ from them ٱلْكُفْرَ [the] disbelief قَالَ he said مَنْ Who أَنصَارِىٓ (will be) my helpers إِلَى to ٱللَّهِ Allah ۖ   قَالَ Said ٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَ the disciples نَحْنُ We أَنصَارُ (will be the) helpers ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ءَامَنَّا we believe[d] بِٱللَّهِ in Allah وَٱشْهَدْ and bear witness بِأَنَّا that we مُسْلِمُونَ (are) Muslims

رَبَّنَآ Our Lord ءَامَنَّا we believe[d] بِمَآ in what أَنزَلْتَ You revealed وَٱتَّبَعْنَا and we follow[ed] ٱلرَّسُولَ the Messenger فَٱكْتُبْنَا then write us مَعَ among ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ the witnesses

وَمَكَرُوا۟ And they schemed وَمَكَرَ and planned ٱللَّهُ Allah ۖ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah خَيْرُ (is the) best ٱلْمَـٰكِرِينَ (of) the planners

إِذْ When قَالَ said ٱللَّهُ Allah يَـٰعِيسَىٰٓ O Isa إِنِّى Indeed, I مُتَوَفِّيكَ (will) take you وَرَافِعُكَ and raise you إِلَىَّ to Myself وَمُطَهِّرُكَ and purify you مِنَ from ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve[d] وَجَاعِلُ and I will make ٱلَّذِينَ those who ٱتَّبَعُوكَ follow[ed] you فَوْقَ superior ٱلَّذِينَ (to) those who كَفَرُوٓا۟ disbelieve[d] إِلَىٰ on يَوْمِ (the) Day ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) [the] Resurrection ۖ   ثُمَّ Then إِلَىَّ to Me مَرْجِعُكُمْ (is) your return فَأَحْكُمُ and I will judge بَيْنَكُمْ between you فِيمَا about what كُنتُمْ you were فِيهِ [in it] تَخْتَلِفُونَ differing

فَأَمَّا Then as for ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve[d] فَأُعَذِّبُهُمْ then I will punish them عَذَابًا (with) a punishment شَدِيدًا severe فِى in ٱلدُّنْيَا the world وَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ and (in) the Hereafter وَمَا And not لَهُم for them مِّن any نَّـٰصِرِينَ helpers

وَأَمَّا And as for ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe[d] وَعَمِلُوا۟ and did ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ [the] righteous deeds فَيُوَفِّيهِمْ then He will grant them in full أُجُورَهُمْ their reward ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah لَا (does) not يُحِبُّ love ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ the wrongdoers

ذَٰلِكَ That نَتْلُوهُ (is what) We recite [it] عَلَيْكَ to you مِنَ of ٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ the Verses وَٱلذِّكْرِ and the Reminder ٱلْحَكِيمِ [the] Wise

إِنَّ Indeed مَثَلَ (the) likeness عِيسَىٰ (of) Isa عِندَ near ٱللَّهِ Allah كَمَثَلِ (is) like (the) likeness ءَادَمَ (of) Adam ۖ   خَلَقَهُۥ He created him مِن from تُرَابٍ dust ثُمَّ then قَالَ He said لَهُۥ to him كُن Be فَيَكُونُ and he was

ٱلْحَقُّ The truth مِن (is) from رَّبِّكَ your Lord فَلَا so (do) not تَكُن be مِّنَ among ٱلْمُمْتَرِينَ the doubters

فَمَنْ Then whoever حَآجَّكَ argues (with) you فِيهِ concerning it مِنۢ from بَعْدِ after مَا what جَآءَكَ came to you مِنَ of ٱلْعِلْمِ the knowledge فَقُلْ then say تَعَالَوْا۟ Come نَدْعُ let us call أَبْنَآءَنَا our sons وَأَبْنَآءَكُمْ and your sons وَنِسَآءَنَا and our women وَنِسَآءَكُمْ and your women وَأَنفُسَنَا and ourselves وَأَنفُسَكُمْ and yourselves ثُمَّ then نَبْتَهِلْ let us pray humbly فَنَجْعَل and [we] invoke لَّعْنَتَ the curse ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah عَلَى on ٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَ the liars

إِنَّ Indeed هَـٰذَا this لَهُوَ surely it (is) ٱلْقَصَصُ the narration ٱلْحَقُّ [the] true ۚ   وَمَا And (there is) no مِنْ (of) إِلَـٰهٍ god إِلَّا except ٱللَّهُ Allah ۚ   وَإِنَّ And indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَهُوَ surely He ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise

فَإِن And if تَوَلَّوْا۟ they turn back فَإِنَّ then indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah عَلِيمٌۢ (is) All-Knowing بِٱلْمُفْسِدِينَ of the corrupters

قُلْ Say يَـٰٓأَهْلَ O People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book تَعَالَوْا۟ Come إِلَىٰ to كَلِمَةٍ a word سَوَآءٍۭ equitable بَيْنَنَا between us وَبَيْنَكُمْ and between you أَلَّا that not نَعْبُدَ we worship إِلَّا except ٱللَّهَ Allah وَلَا and not نُشْرِكَ we associate partners بِهِۦ with Him شَيْـًٔا anything وَلَا and not يَتَّخِذَ take بَعْضُنَا some of us بَعْضًا (to) others أَرْبَابًا (as) lords مِّن from دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah ۚ   فَإِن Then if تَوَلَّوْا۟ they turn away فَقُولُوا۟ then say ٱشْهَدُوا۟ Bear witness بِأَنَّا that we مُسْلِمُونَ (are) Muslims

يَـٰٓأَهْلَ O People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book لِمَ Why تُحَآجُّونَ (do) you argue فِىٓ concerning إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Ibrahim وَمَآ while not أُنزِلَتِ was revealed ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُ the Taurat وَٱلْإِنجِيلُ and the Injeel إِلَّا except مِنۢ from بَعْدِهِۦٓ after him ۚ   أَفَلَا Then why don't تَعْقِلُونَ you use your intellect

هَـٰٓأَنتُمْ Here you are هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ those who حَـٰجَجْتُمْ argued فِيمَا about what لَكُم [for] you بِهِۦ of it عِلْمٌ (have some) knowledge فَلِمَ Then why تُحَآجُّونَ (do) you argue فِيمَا about what لَيْسَ not لَكُم for you بِهِۦ of it عِلْمٌ (any) knowledge ۚ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah يَعْلَمُ knows وَأَنتُمْ while you لَا (do) not تَعْلَمُونَ know

مَا Not كَانَ was إِبْرَٰهِيمُ Ibrahim يَهُودِيًّا a Jew وَلَا and not نَصْرَانِيًّا a Christian وَلَـٰكِن [and] but كَانَ he was حَنِيفًا a true مُّسْلِمًا Muslim وَمَا and not كَانَ he was مِنَ from ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ the polytheists

إِنَّ Indeed أَوْلَى the best to claim relationship ٱلنَّاسِ (of) people بِإِبْرَٰهِيمَ with Ibrahim لَلَّذِينَ (are) those who ٱتَّبَعُوهُ follow him وَهَـٰذَا and this ٱلنَّبِىُّ [the] Prophet وَٱلَّذِينَ and those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe[d] ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah وَلِىُّ (is) a Guardian ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ (of) the believers

وَدَّت Wished طَّآئِفَةٌ a group مِّنْ from أَهْلِ (the) People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book لَوْ if يُضِلُّونَكُمْ they could lead you astray وَمَا and not يُضِلُّونَ they lead astray إِلَّآ except أَنفُسَهُمْ themselves وَمَا and not يَشْعُرُونَ they perceive

يَـٰٓأَهْلَ O People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book لِمَ Why do تَكْفُرُونَ you deny بِـَٔايَـٰتِ [in] the Signs ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَأَنتُمْ while you تَشْهَدُونَ bear witness

يَـٰٓأَهْلَ O People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book لِمَ Why تَلْبِسُونَ do you mix ٱلْحَقَّ the truth بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ with the falsehood وَتَكْتُمُونَ and conceal ٱلْحَقَّ the truth وَأَنتُمْ while you تَعْلَمُونَ know

وَقَالَت And said طَّآئِفَةٌ a group مِّنْ of أَهْلِ (the) People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book ءَامِنُوا۟ Believe بِٱلَّذِىٓ in what أُنزِلَ was revealed عَلَى on ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe[d] وَجْهَ (at the) beginning ٱلنَّهَارِ (of) the day وَٱكْفُرُوٓا۟ and reject ءَاخِرَهُۥ (at) its end لَعَلَّهُمْ perhaps they may يَرْجِعُونَ return

وَلَا And (do) not تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ believe إِلَّا except لِمَن (the one) who تَبِعَ follows دِينَكُمْ your religion قُلْ Say إِنَّ Indeed ٱلْهُدَىٰ the (true) guidance هُدَى (is the) Guidance ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah أَن lest يُؤْتَىٰٓ is given أَحَدٌ (to) one مِّثْلَ (the) like مَآ (of) what أُوتِيتُمْ was given to you أَوْ or يُحَآجُّوكُمْ they may argue with you عِندَ near رَبِّكُمْ your Lord ۗ   قُلْ Say إِنَّ Indeed ٱلْفَضْلَ the Bounty بِيَدِ (is) in the Hand ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah يُؤْتِيهِ He gives it مَن (to) whom يَشَآءُ He wills ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ and Allah وَٰسِعٌ (is) All-Encompassing عَلِيمٌ All-Knowing

يَخْتَصُّ He chooses بِرَحْمَتِهِۦ for His Mercy مَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills ۗ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah ذُو (is) the Possessor ٱلْفَضْلِ (of) Bounty ٱلْعَظِيمِ [the] great

وَمِنْ And from أَهْلِ (the) People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book مَنْ (is he) who إِن if تَأْمَنْهُ you entrust him بِقِنطَارٍ with a great amount of wealth يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ he will return it إِلَيْكَ to you وَمِنْهُم And from them مَّنْ (is he) who إِن if تَأْمَنْهُ you entrust him بِدِينَارٍ with a single coin لَّا not يُؤَدِّهِۦٓ he will return it إِلَيْكَ to you إِلَّا except مَا that دُمْتَ you keep constantly عَلَيْهِ over him قَآئِمًا standing ۗ   ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَالُوا۟ said لَيْسَ Not عَلَيْنَا on us فِى concerning ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ the unlettered people سَبِيلٌ any [way] (accountability) وَيَقُولُونَ And they say عَلَى about ٱللَّهِ Allah ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie وَهُمْ while they يَعْلَمُونَ know

بَلَىٰ Nay مَنْ whoever أَوْفَىٰ fulfills بِعَهْدِهِۦ his covenant وَٱتَّقَىٰ and fears (Allah) فَإِنَّ then indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah يُحِبُّ loves ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ those who fear (Him)

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who يَشْتَرُونَ exchange بِعَهْدِ (the) Covenant ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَأَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ and their oaths ثَمَنًا (for) a price قَلِيلًا little أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ those لَا no خَلَـٰقَ share لَهُمْ for them فِى in ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ the Hereafter وَلَا and not يُكَلِّمُهُمُ will speak to them ٱللَّهُ Allah وَلَا and not يَنظُرُ look إِلَيْهِمْ at them يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection وَلَا and not يُزَكِّيهِمْ purify them وَلَهُمْ and for them عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment أَلِيمٌ painful

وَإِنَّ And indeed مِنْهُمْ among them لَفَرِيقًا surely (is) a group يَلْوُۥنَ they distort أَلْسِنَتَهُم their tongues بِٱلْكِتَـٰبِ in (reciting) the Book لِتَحْسَبُوهُ so that you may think it مِنَ (is) from ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ the Book وَمَا and not هُوَ it مِنَ (is) from ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ the Book وَيَقُولُونَ And they say هُوَ It مِنْ (is) عِندِ from ٱللَّهِ Allah وَمَا But not هُوَ it مِنْ (is) عِندِ from ٱللَّهِ Allah وَيَقُولُونَ And they say عَلَى about ٱللَّهِ Allah ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie وَهُمْ while they يَعْلَمُونَ know

مَا Not كَانَ is لِبَشَرٍ for a human أَن that يُؤْتِيَهُ gives him ٱللَّهُ Allah ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book وَٱلْحُكْمَ and the wisdom وَٱلنُّبُوَّةَ and the Prophethood ثُمَّ then يَقُولَ he says لِلنَّاسِ to the people كُونُوا۟ Be عِبَادًا worshippers لِّى of me مِن from دُونِ besides ٱللَّهِ Allah وَلَـٰكِن but (would say) كُونُوا۟ Be رَبَّـٰنِيِّـۧنَ worshippers of the Lord بِمَا because كُنتُمْ you have been تُعَلِّمُونَ teaching ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book وَبِمَا and because كُنتُمْ you have been تَدْرُسُونَ studying (it)
