إِذَا When وَقَعَتِ occurs ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ the Event

لَيْسَ Not لِوَقْعَتِهَا at its occurrence كَاذِبَةٌ a denial

خَافِضَةٌ Bringing down رَّافِعَةٌ raising up

إِذَا When رُجَّتِ will be shaken ٱلْأَرْضُ the earth رَجًّا (with) a shaking

وَبُسَّتِ And will be crumbled ٱلْجِبَالُ the mountains بَسًّا (with awful) crumbling

فَكَانَتْ So they become هَبَآءً dust particles مُّنۢبَثًّا dispersing

وَكُنتُمْ And you will become أَزْوَٰجًا kinds ثَلَـٰثَةً three

فَأَصْحَـٰبُ Then (the) companions ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ (of) the right مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ (of) the right

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And (the) companions ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ (of) the left مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ (of) the left

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ And the foremost ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ (are) the foremost

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ (are) the nearest ones

فِى In جَنَّـٰتِ Gardens ٱلنَّعِيمِ (of) Pleasure

ثُلَّةٌ A company مِّنَ of ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ the former (people)

وَقَلِيلٌ And a few مِّنَ of ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later (people)

عَلَىٰ On سُرُرٍ thrones مَّوْضُونَةٍ decorated

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ Reclining عَلَيْهَا on them مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ facing each other

يَطُوفُ Will circulate عَلَيْهِمْ among them وِلْدَٰنٌ boys مُّخَلَّدُونَ immortal

بِأَكْوَابٍ With vessels وَأَبَارِيقَ and jugs وَكَأْسٍ and a cup مِّن from مَّعِينٍ a flowing stream

لَّا Not يُصَدَّعُونَ they will get headache عَنْهَا therefrom وَلَا and not يُنزِفُونَ they will get intoxicated

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ And fruits مِّمَّا of what يَتَخَيَّرُونَ they select

وَلَحْمِ And (the) flesh طَيْرٍ (of) fowls مِّمَّا of what يَشْتَهُونَ they desire

وَحُورٌ And fair ones عِينٌ (with) large eyes

كَأَمْثَـٰلِ Like ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ pearls ٱلْمَكْنُونِ well-protected

جَزَآءًۢ A reward بِمَا for what كَانُوا۟ they used (to) يَعْمَلُونَ do

لَا Not يَسْمَعُونَ they will hear فِيهَا therein لَغْوًا vain talk وَلَا and not تَأْثِيمًا sinful (speech)

إِلَّا Except قِيلًا a saying سَلَـٰمًا Peace سَلَـٰمًا Peace

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right

فِى Among سِدْرٍ lote trees مَّخْضُودٍ thornless

وَطَلْحٍ And banana trees مَّنضُودٍ layered

وَظِلٍّ And shade مَّمْدُودٍ extended

وَمَآءٍ And water مَّسْكُوبٍ poured forth

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍ And fruit كَثِيرَةٍ abundant

لَّا Not مَقْطُوعَةٍ limited وَلَا and not مَمْنُوعَةٍ forbidden

وَفُرُشٍ And (on) couches مَّرْفُوعَةٍ raised

إِنَّآ Indeed, We أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ [We] have produced them إِنشَآءً (into) a creation

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ And We have made them أَبْكَارًا virgins

عُرُبًا Devoted أَتْرَابًا equals in age

لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ For (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right

ثُلَّةٌ A company مِّنَ of ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ the former people

وَثُلَّةٌ And a company مِّنَ of ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later people

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And (the) companions ٱلشِّمَالِ (of) the left مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلشِّمَالِ (of) the left

فِى In سَمُومٍ scorching fire وَحَمِيمٍ and scalding water

وَظِلٍّ And a shade مِّن of يَحْمُومٍ black smoke

لَّا Not بَارِدٍ cool وَلَا and not كَرِيمٍ pleasant

إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they كَانُوا۟ were قَبْلَ before ذَٰلِكَ that مُتْرَفِينَ indulging in affluence

وَكَانُوا۟ And were يُصِرُّونَ persisting عَلَى in ٱلْحِنثِ the sin ٱلْعَظِيمِ the great

وَكَانُوا۟ And they used (to) يَقُولُونَ say أَئِذَا When مِتْنَا we die وَكُنَّا and become تُرَابًا dust وَعِظَـٰمًا and bones أَءِنَّا will we لَمَبْعُوثُونَ surely be resurrected

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا And also our fathers ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ former

قُلْ Say إِنَّ Indeed ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ the former وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ and the later people

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ Surely, will be gathered إِلَىٰ for مِيقَـٰتِ (the) appointment يَوْمٍ (of) a Day مَّعْلُومٍ well-known

ثُمَّ Then إِنَّكُمْ indeed you أَيُّهَا O those astray ٱلضَّآلُّونَ O those astray ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ the deniers

لَـَٔاكِلُونَ Will surely eat مِن from شَجَرٍ (the) tree مِّن of زَقُّومٍ Zaqqum

فَمَالِـُٔونَ Then will fill مِنْهَا with it ٱلْبُطُونَ the bellies

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ And drink عَلَيْهِ over it مِنَ [from] ٱلْحَمِيمِ the scalding water

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ And will drink شُرْبَ (as) drinking ٱلْهِيمِ (of) the thirsty camels

هَـٰذَا This نُزُلُهُمْ (is) their hospitality يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) Judgment

نَحْنُ We خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ [We] created you فَلَوْلَا so why (do) not تُصَدِّقُونَ you admit the truth

أَفَرَءَيْتُم Do you see مَّا what تُمْنُونَ you emit

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ who create it أَمْ or نَحْنُ (are) We ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ the Creators

نَحْنُ We قَدَّرْنَا [We] have decreed بَيْنَكُمُ among you ٱلْمَوْتَ the death وَمَا and not نَحْنُ We بِمَسْبُوقِينَ (are) outrun

عَلَىٰٓ In أَن that نُّبَدِّلَ We (will) change أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ your likeness[es] وَنُنشِئَكُمْ and produce you فِى in مَا what لَا not تَعْلَمُونَ you know

وَلَقَدْ And certainly عَلِمْتُمُ you know ٱلنَّشْأَةَ the creation ٱلْأُولَىٰ the first فَلَوْلَا so why not تَذَكَّرُونَ you take heed

أَفَرَءَيْتُم And do you see مَّا what تَحْرُثُونَ you sow

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you (who) تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ cause it to grow أَمْ or نَحْنُ (are) We ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ the Ones Who grow

لَوْ If نَشَآءُ We willed لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ We (would) surely, make it حُطَـٰمًا debris فَظَلْتُمْ then you would remain تَفَكَّهُونَ wondering

إِنَّا Indeed, we لَمُغْرَمُونَ surely are laden with debt

بَلْ Nay نَحْنُ we مَحْرُومُونَ (are) deprived

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ Do you see ٱلْمَآءَ the water ٱلَّذِى which تَشْرَبُونَ you drink

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ who send it down مِنَ from ٱلْمُزْنِ the rain clouds أَمْ or نَحْنُ We ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ (are) the Ones to send

لَوْ If نَشَآءُ We willed جَعَلْنَـٰهُ We (could) make it أُجَاجًا salty فَلَوْلَا then why are you not grateful تَشْكُرُونَ then why are you not grateful

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ Do you see ٱلنَّارَ the Fire ٱلَّتِى which تُورُونَ you ignite

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you أَنشَأْتُمْ who produced شَجَرَتَهَآ its tree أَمْ or نَحْنُ We ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ (are) the Producers

نَحْنُ We جَعَلْنَـٰهَا have made it تَذْكِرَةً a reminder وَمَتَـٰعًا and a provision لِّلْمُقْوِينَ for the wayfarers in the desert

فَسَبِّحْ So glorify بِٱسْمِ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord ٱلْعَظِيمِ the Most Great

فَلَآ But nay أُقْسِمُ I swear بِمَوَٰقِعِ by setting ٱلنُّجُومِ (of) the stars

وَإِنَّهُۥ And indeed, it لَقَسَمٌ (is) surely an oath لَّوْ if تَعْلَمُونَ you know عَظِيمٌ great

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, it لَقُرْءَانٌ (is) surely, a Quran كَرِيمٌ noble

فِى In كِتَـٰبٍ a Book مَّكْنُونٍ well-guarded

لَّا None يَمَسُّهُۥٓ touch it إِلَّا except ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ the purified

تَنزِيلٌ A Revelation مِّن from رَّبِّ (the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds

أَفَبِهَـٰذَا Then is it to this ٱلْحَدِيثِ statement أَنتُم that you مُّدْهِنُونَ (are) indifferent

وَتَجْعَلُونَ And you make رِزْقَكُمْ your provision أَنَّكُمْ that you تُكَذِّبُونَ deny

فَلَوْلَآ Then why not إِذَا when بَلَغَتِ it reaches ٱلْحُلْقُومَ the throat

وَأَنتُمْ And you حِينَئِذٍ (at) that time تَنظُرُونَ look on

وَنَحْنُ And We أَقْرَبُ (are) nearer إِلَيْهِ to him مِنكُمْ than you وَلَـٰكِن but لَّا you (do) not see تُبْصِرُونَ you (do) not see

فَلَوْلَآ Then why not إِن if كُنتُمْ you are غَيْرَ not مَدِينِينَ to be recompensed

تَرْجِعُونَهَآ Bring it back إِن if كُنتُمْ you are صَـٰدِقِينَ truthful

فَأَمَّآ Then إِن if كَانَ he was مِنَ of ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ those brought near

فَرَوْحٌ Then rest وَرَيْحَانٌ and bounty وَجَنَّتُ and a Garden نَعِيمٍ (of) Pleasure

وَأَمَّآ And إِن if كَانَ he was مِنْ of أَصْحَـٰبِ (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right

فَسَلَـٰمٌ Then, peace لَّكَ for you مِنْ [from] أَصْحَـٰبِ (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right

وَأَمَّآ But إِن if كَانَ he was مِنَ of ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ the deniers ٱلضَّآلِّينَ the astray

فَنُزُلٌ Then, hospitality مِّنْ of حَمِيمٍ (the) scalding water

وَتَصْلِيَةُ And burning جَحِيمٍ (in) Hellfire

إِنَّ Indeed هَـٰذَا this لَهُوَ surely, it حَقُّ (is the) truth ٱلْيَقِينِ certain

فَسَبِّحْ So glorify بِٱسْمِ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord ٱلْعَظِيمِ the Most Great
