سَبَّحَ Glorifies لِلَّهِ [to] Allah مَا whatever فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَمَا and whatever فِى (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth ۖ   وَهُوَ And He ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise

هُوَ He ٱلَّذِىٓ (is) the One Who أَخْرَجَ expelled ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved مِنْ from أَهْلِ (the) People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Scripture مِن from دِيَـٰرِهِمْ their homes لِأَوَّلِ at (the) first ٱلْحَشْرِ gathering ۚ   مَا Not ظَنَنتُمْ you think أَن that يَخْرُجُوا۟ they would leave ۖ   وَظَنُّوٓا۟ and they thought أَنَّهُم that [they] مَّانِعَتُهُمْ would defend them حُصُونُهُم their fortresses مِّنَ against ٱللَّهِ Allah فَأَتَىٰهُمُ But came to them ٱللَّهُ Allah مِنْ from حَيْثُ where لَمْ not يَحْتَسِبُوا۟ they expected ۖ   وَقَذَفَ and He cast فِى into قُلُوبِهِمُ their hearts ٱلرُّعْبَ [the] terror ۚ   يُخْرِبُونَ they destroyed بُيُوتَهُم their houses بِأَيْدِيهِمْ with their hands وَأَيْدِى and the hands ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ (of) the believers فَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟ So take a lesson يَـٰٓأُو۟لِى O those endowed ٱلْأَبْصَـٰرِ (with) insight

وَلَوْلَآ And if not أَن [that] كَتَبَ (had) decreed ٱللَّهُ Allah عَلَيْهِمُ for them ٱلْجَلَآءَ the exile لَعَذَّبَهُمْ certainly He (would) have punished them فِى in ٱلدُّنْيَا the world ۖ   وَلَهُمْ and for them فِى in ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ the Hereafter عَذَابُ (is) a punishment ٱلنَّارِ (of) the Fire

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because [they] شَآقُّوا۟ they opposed ٱللَّهَ Allah وَرَسُولَهُۥ and His Messenger ۖ   وَمَن And whoever يُشَآقِّ opposes ٱللَّهَ Allah فَإِنَّ then indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah شَدِيدُ (is) severe ٱلْعِقَابِ (in) penalty

مَا Whatever قَطَعْتُم you cut down مِّن of لِّينَةٍ (the) palm-trees أَوْ or تَرَكْتُمُوهَا you left them قَآئِمَةً standing عَلَىٰٓ on أُصُولِهَا their roots فَبِإِذْنِ it (was) by the permission ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah وَلِيُخْزِىَ and that He may disgrace ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ the defiantly disobedient

وَمَآ And what أَفَآءَ (was) restored ٱللَّهُ (by) Allah عَلَىٰ to رَسُولِهِۦ His Messenger مِنْهُمْ from them فَمَآ then not أَوْجَفْتُمْ you made expedition عَلَيْهِ for it مِنْ of خَيْلٍ horses وَلَا and not رِكَابٍ camels وَلَـٰكِنَّ but ٱللَّهَ Allah يُسَلِّطُ gives power رُسُلَهُۥ (to) His Messengers عَلَىٰ over مَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills ۚ   وَٱللَّهُ And Allah عَلَىٰ (is) on كُلِّ every شَىْءٍ thing قَدِيرٌ All-Powerful

مَّآ What أَفَآءَ (was) restored ٱللَّهُ (by) Allah عَلَىٰ to رَسُولِهِۦ His Messenger مِنْ from أَهْلِ (the) people ٱلْقُرَىٰ (of) the towns فَلِلَّهِ (it is) for Allah وَلِلرَّسُولِ and His Messenger وَلِذِى and for those ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ (of) the kindred وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ and the orphans وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ and the needy وَٱبْنِ and ٱلسَّبِيلِ the wayfarer كَىْ that لَا not يَكُونَ it becomes دُولَةًۢ a (perpetual) circulation بَيْنَ between ٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِ the rich مِنكُمْ among you ۚ   وَمَآ And whatever ءَاتَىٰكُمُ gives you ٱلرَّسُولُ the Messenger فَخُذُوهُ take it وَمَا and whatever نَهَىٰكُمْ he forbids you عَنْهُ from it فَٱنتَهُوا۟ refrain ۚ   وَٱتَّقُوا۟ And fear ٱللَّهَ Allah ۖ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah شَدِيدُ (is) severe ٱلْعِقَابِ (in) penalty

لِلْفُقَرَآءِ For the poor ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ emigrants ٱلَّذِينَ those who أُخْرِجُوا۟ were expelled مِن from دِيَـٰرِهِمْ their homes وَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ and their properties يَبْتَغُونَ seeking فَضْلًا bounty مِّنَ from ٱللَّهِ Allah وَرِضْوَٰنًا and pleasure وَيَنصُرُونَ and helping ٱللَّهَ Allah وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ and His Messenger ۚ   أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those هُمُ they ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ (are) the truthful

وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who تَبَوَّءُو settled ٱلدَّارَ (in) the home وَٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ and (accepted) faith مِن from قَبْلِهِمْ before them يُحِبُّونَ love مَنْ (those) who هَاجَرَ emigrated إِلَيْهِمْ to them وَلَا and not يَجِدُونَ they find فِى in صُدُورِهِمْ their breasts حَاجَةً any want مِّمَّآ of what أُوتُوا۟ they were given وَيُؤْثِرُونَ but prefer عَلَىٰٓ over أَنفُسِهِمْ themselves وَلَوْ even though كَانَ was بِهِمْ with them خَصَاصَةٌ poverty ۚ   وَمَن And whoever يُوقَ is saved شُحَّ (from) stinginess نَفْسِهِۦ (of) his soul فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ then those هُمُ [they] ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ (are) the successful ones

وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who جَآءُو came مِنۢ from بَعْدِهِمْ after them يَقُولُونَ they say رَبَّنَا Our Lord ٱغْفِرْ forgive لَنَا us وَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَا and our brothers ٱلَّذِينَ who سَبَقُونَا preceded us بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ in faith وَلَا and (do) not تَجْعَلْ put فِى in قُلُوبِنَا our hearts غِلًّا any rancor لِّلَّذِينَ towards those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believed رَبَّنَآ Our Lord إِنَّكَ indeed You رَءُوفٌ (are) Full of Kindness رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful

أَلَمْ Do not تَرَ you see إِلَى [to] ٱلَّذِينَ those who نَافَقُوا۟ (were) hypocrites يَقُولُونَ saying لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُ to their brothers ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved مِنْ among أَهْلِ the People ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Scripture لَئِنْ If أُخْرِجْتُمْ you are expelled لَنَخْرُجَنَّ surely we will leave مَعَكُمْ with you وَلَا and not نُطِيعُ we will obey فِيكُمْ concerning you أَحَدًا anyone أَبَدًا ever وَإِن and if قُوتِلْتُمْ you are fought لَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْ certainly we will help you وَٱللَّهُ And Allah يَشْهَدُ bears witness إِنَّهُمْ that they لَكَـٰذِبُونَ (are) surely liars

لَئِنْ If أُخْرِجُوا۟ they are expelled لَا not يَخْرُجُونَ they will leave مَعَهُمْ with them وَلَئِن and if قُوتِلُوا۟ they are fought لَا not يَنصُرُونَهُمْ they will help them وَلَئِن And if نَّصَرُوهُمْ they help them لَيُوَلُّنَّ certainly they will turn ٱلْأَدْبَـٰرَ (their) backs ثُمَّ then لَا not يُنصَرُونَ they will be helped

لَأَنتُمْ Certainly you أَشَدُّ (are) more intense رَهْبَةً (in) fear فِى in صُدُورِهِم their breasts مِّنَ than ٱللَّهِ Allah ۚ   ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَوْمٌ (are) a people لَّا (who do) not يَفْقَهُونَ understand

لَا Not يُقَـٰتِلُونَكُمْ will they fight you جَمِيعًا all إِلَّا except فِى in قُرًى towns مُّحَصَّنَةٍ fortified أَوْ or مِن from وَرَآءِ behind جُدُرٍۭ walls ۚ   بَأْسُهُم Their violence بَيْنَهُمْ among themselves شَدِيدٌ (is) severe ۚ   تَحْسَبُهُمْ You think they جَمِيعًا (are) united وَقُلُوبُهُمْ but their hearts شَتَّىٰ (are) divided ۚ   ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَوْمٌ (are) a people لَّا not يَعْقِلُونَ they reason

كَمَثَلِ Like (the) example ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those مِن from قَبْلِهِمْ before them قَرِيبًا shortly ۖ   ذَاقُوا۟ they tasted وَبَالَ (the) evil result أَمْرِهِمْ (of) their affair وَلَهُمْ and for them عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment أَلِيمٌ painful

كَمَثَلِ Like (the) example ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ (of) the Shaitaan إِذْ when قَالَ he says لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ to man ٱكْفُرْ Disbelieve فَلَمَّا But when كَفَرَ he disbelieves قَالَ he says إِنِّى Indeed, I am بَرِىٓءٌ disassociated مِّنكَ from you إِنِّىٓ Indeed, [I] أَخَافُ I fear ٱللَّهَ Allah رَبَّ (the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds

فَكَانَ So will be عَـٰقِبَتَهُمَآ (the) end of both of them أَنَّهُمَا that they فِى (will be) in ٱلنَّارِ the Fire خَـٰلِدَيْنِ abiding forever فِيهَا therein ۚ   وَذَٰلِكَ And that جَزَٰٓؤُا۟ (is the) recompense ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ (of) the wrongdoers

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O ٱلَّذِينَ you (who) ءَامَنُوا۟ believe ٱتَّقُوا۟ Fear ٱللَّهَ Allah وَلْتَنظُرْ and let look نَفْسٌ every soul مَّا what قَدَّمَتْ it has sent forth لِغَدٍ for tomorrow ۖ   وَٱتَّقُوا۟ and fear ٱللَّهَ Allah ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah خَبِيرٌۢ (is) All-Aware بِمَا of what تَعْمَلُونَ you do

وَلَا And (do) not تَكُونُوا۟ be كَٱلَّذِينَ like those who نَسُوا۟ forgot ٱللَّهَ Allah فَأَنسَىٰهُمْ so He made them forget أَنفُسَهُمْ themselves ۚ   أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those هُمُ [they] ٱلْفَـٰسِقُونَ (are) the defiantly disobedient

لَا Not يَسْتَوِىٓ equal أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلنَّارِ (of) the Fire وَأَصْحَـٰبُ and (the) companions ٱلْجَنَّةِ (of) Paradise ۚ   أَصْحَـٰبُ (The) companions ٱلْجَنَّةِ (of) Paradise هُمُ they ٱلْفَآئِزُونَ (are) the achievers

لَوْ If أَنزَلْنَا We (had) sent down هَـٰذَا this ٱلْقُرْءَانَ Quran عَلَىٰ on جَبَلٍ a mountain لَّرَأَيْتَهُۥ surely you (would) have seen it خَـٰشِعًا humbled مُّتَصَدِّعًا breaking asunder مِّنْ from خَشْيَةِ (the) fear ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ۚ   وَتِلْكَ And these ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلُ examples نَضْرِبُهَا We present them لِلنَّاسِ to the people لَعَلَّهُمْ so that they may يَتَفَكَّرُونَ give thought

هُوَ He ٱللَّهُ (is) Allah ٱلَّذِى the One Who لَآ (there is) no إِلَـٰهَ god إِلَّا but هُوَ He ۖ   عَـٰلِمُ (the) All-Knower ٱلْغَيْبِ (of) the unseen وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ and the witnessed ۖ   هُوَ He ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ (is) the Most Gracious ٱلرَّحِيمُ the Most Merciful

هُوَ He ٱللَّهُ (is) Allah ٱلَّذِى the One Who لَآ (there is) no إِلَـٰهَ god إِلَّا but هُوَ He ٱلْمَلِكُ the Sovereign ٱلْقُدُّوسُ the Holy One ٱلسَّلَـٰمُ the Giver of Peace ٱلْمُؤْمِنُ the Giver of Security ٱلْمُهَيْمِنُ the Guardian ٱلْعَزِيزُ the All-Mighty ٱلْجَبَّارُ the Irresistible ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُ the Supreme ۚ   سُبْحَـٰنَ Glory (be to) ٱللَّهِ Allah عَمَّا from what يُشْرِكُونَ they associate (with Him)

هُوَ He ٱللَّهُ (is) Allah ٱلْخَـٰلِقُ the Creator ٱلْبَارِئُ the Inventor ٱلْمُصَوِّرُ the Fashioner ۖ   لَهُ For Him ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ (are) the names ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ the beautiful ۚ   يُسَبِّحُ Glorifies لَهُۥ Him مَا whatever فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth ۖ   وَهُوَ And He ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise
