الٓمٓ Alif Lam Meem

تِلْكَ These ءَايَـٰتُ (are) Verses ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ (of) the Book ٱلْحَكِيمِ the Wise

هُدًى A guidance وَرَحْمَةً and a mercy لِّلْمُحْسِنِينَ for the good-doers

ٱلَّذِينَ Those who يُقِيمُونَ establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ the prayer وَيُؤْتُونَ and give ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ zakah وَهُم and they بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter هُمْ [they] يُوقِنُونَ believe firmly

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those عَلَىٰ (are) on هُدًى guidance مِّن from رَّبِّهِمْ their Lord ۖ   وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ and those هُمُ [they] ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ (are) the successful

وَمِنَ And of ٱلنَّاسِ the mankind مَن (is he) who يَشْتَرِى purchases لَهْوَ idle tales ٱلْحَدِيثِ idle tales لِيُضِلَّ to mislead عَن from سَبِيلِ (the) path ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah بِغَيْرِ without عِلْمٍ knowledge وَيَتَّخِذَهَا and takes it هُزُوًا (in) ridicule ۚ   أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those لَهُمْ for them عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment مُّهِينٌ humiliating

وَإِذَا And when تُتْلَىٰ are recited عَلَيْهِ to him ءَايَـٰتُنَا Our Verses وَلَّىٰ he turns away مُسْتَكْبِرًا arrogantly كَأَن as if لَّمْ not يَسْمَعْهَا he (had) heard them كَأَنَّ as if فِىٓ in أُذُنَيْهِ his ears وَقْرًا (is) deafness ۖ   فَبَشِّرْهُ So give him tidings بِعَذَابٍ of a punishment أَلِيمٍ painful

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe وَعَمِلُوا۟ and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ righteous deeds لَهُمْ for them جَنَّـٰتُ (are) Gardens ٱلنَّعِيمِ (of) Delight

خَـٰلِدِينَ (To) abide forever فِيهَا in it ۖ   وَعْدَ (The) Promise of Allah ٱللَّهِ (The) Promise of Allah حَقًّا (is) true ۚ   وَهُوَ And He ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise

خَلَقَ He created ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens بِغَيْرِ without عَمَدٍ pillars تَرَوْنَهَا that you see ۖ   وَأَلْقَىٰ and has cast فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth رَوَٰسِىَ firm mountains أَن lest تَمِيدَ it (might) shake بِكُمْ with you وَبَثَّ and He dispersed فِيهَا in it مِن from كُلِّ every دَآبَّةٍ creature ۚ   وَأَنزَلْنَا And We sent down مِنَ from ٱلسَّمَآءِ the sky مَآءً water فَأَنۢبَتْنَا then We caused to grow فِيهَا therein مِن of كُلِّ every زَوْجٍ kind كَرِيمٍ noble

هَـٰذَا This خَلْقُ (is the) creation ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah فَأَرُونِى So show Me مَاذَا what خَلَقَ have created ٱلَّذِينَ those مِن besides Him دُونِهِۦ besides Him ۚ   بَلِ Nay ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ the wrongdoers فِى (are) in ضَلَـٰلٍ error مُّبِينٍ clear

وَلَقَدْ And verily ءَاتَيْنَا We gave لُقْمَـٰنَ Luqman ٱلْحِكْمَةَ the wisdom أَنِ that ٱشْكُرْ Be grateful لِلَّهِ to Allah ۚ   وَمَن And whoever يَشْكُرْ (is) grateful فَإِنَّمَا then only يَشْكُرُ he is grateful لِنَفْسِهِۦ for himself ۖ   وَمَن And whoever كَفَرَ (is) ungrateful فَإِنَّ then indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah غَنِىٌّ (is) Free of need حَمِيدٌ Praiseworthy

وَإِذْ And when قَالَ said لُقْمَـٰنُ Luqman لِٱبْنِهِۦ to his son وَهُوَ while he يَعِظُهُۥ (was) instructing him يَـٰبُنَىَّ O my son لَا (Do) not تُشْرِكْ associate partners بِٱللَّهِ with Allah ۖ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱلشِّرْكَ associating partners لَظُلْمٌ (is) surely an injustice عَظِيمٌ great

وَوَصَّيْنَا And We have enjoined ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ (upon) man بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ for his parents حَمَلَتْهُ carried him أُمُّهُۥ his mother وَهْنًا (in) weakness عَلَىٰ upon وَهْنٍ weakness وَفِصَـٰلُهُۥ and his weaning فِى (is) in عَامَيْنِ two years أَنِ that ٱشْكُرْ Be grateful لِى to Me وَلِوَٰلِدَيْكَ and to your parents إِلَىَّ towards Me ٱلْمَصِيرُ (is) the destination

وَإِن But if جَـٰهَدَاكَ they strive against you عَلَىٰٓ on أَن that تُشْرِكَ you associate partners بِى with Me مَا what لَيْسَ not لَكَ you have بِهِۦ of it عِلْمٌ any knowledge فَلَا then (do) not تُطِعْهُمَا obey both of them ۖ   وَصَاحِبْهُمَا But accompany them فِى in ٱلدُّنْيَا the world مَعْرُوفًا (with) kindness ۖ   وَٱتَّبِعْ and follow سَبِيلَ (the) path مَنْ (of him) who أَنَابَ turns إِلَىَّ to Me ۚ   ثُمَّ Then إِلَىَّ towards Me مَرْجِعُكُمْ (is) your return فَأُنَبِّئُكُم then I will inform you بِمَا of what كُنتُمْ you used (to) تَعْمَلُونَ do

يَـٰبُنَىَّ O my son إِنَّهَآ Indeed it إِن if تَكُ it be مِثْقَالَ (the) weight حَبَّةٍ (of) a grain مِّنْ of خَرْدَلٍ a mustard seed فَتَكُن and it be فِى in صَخْرَةٍ a rock أَوْ or فِى in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens أَوْ or فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth يَأْتِ Allah will bring it forth بِهَا Allah will bring it forth ٱللَّهُ Allah will bring it forth ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَطِيفٌ (is) All-Subtle خَبِيرٌ All-Aware

يَـٰبُنَىَّ O my son أَقِمِ Establish ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ the prayer وَأْمُرْ and enjoin بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ [with] the right وَٱنْهَ and forbid عَنِ from ٱلْمُنكَرِ the wrong وَٱصْبِرْ and be patient عَلَىٰ over مَآ what أَصَابَكَ befalls you ۖ   إِنَّ Indeed ذَٰلِكَ that مِنْ (is) of عَزْمِ the matters requiring determination ٱلْأُمُورِ the matters requiring determination

وَلَا And (do) not تُصَعِّرْ turn خَدَّكَ your cheek لِلنَّاسِ from men وَلَا and (do) not تَمْشِ walk فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth مَرَحًا exultantly ۖ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah لَا (does) not يُحِبُّ like كُلَّ every مُخْتَالٍ self-conceited فَخُورٍ boaster

وَٱقْصِدْ And be moderate فِى in مَشْيِكَ your pace وَٱغْضُضْ and lower مِن [of] صَوْتِكَ your voice ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed أَنكَرَ (the) harshest ٱلْأَصْوَٰتِ (of all) sounds لَصَوْتُ (is) surely (the) voice ٱلْحَمِيرِ (of) the donkeys

أَلَمْ Do not تَرَوْا۟ you see أَنَّ that ٱللَّهَ Allah سَخَّرَ has subjected لَكُم to you مَّا whatever فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَمَا and whatever فِى (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth وَأَسْبَغَ and amply bestowed عَلَيْكُمْ upon you نِعَمَهُۥ His Bounties ظَـٰهِرَةً apparent وَبَاطِنَةً and hidden ۗ   وَمِنَ But of ٱلنَّاسِ the people مَن (is he) who يُجَـٰدِلُ disputes فِى about ٱللَّهِ Allah بِغَيْرِ without عِلْمٍ knowledge وَلَا and not هُدًى guidance وَلَا and not كِتَـٰبٍ a book مُّنِيرٍ enlightening

وَإِذَا And when قِيلَ it is said لَهُمُ to them ٱتَّبِعُوا۟ Follow مَآ what أَنزَلَ Allah (has) revealed ٱللَّهُ Allah (has) revealed قَالُوا۟ they say بَلْ Nay نَتَّبِعُ we will follow مَا what وَجَدْنَا we found عَلَيْهِ on it ءَابَآءَنَآ our forefathers ۚ   أَوَلَوْ Even if كَانَ Shaitaan was ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ Shaitaan was يَدْعُوهُمْ (to) call them إِلَىٰ to عَذَابِ (the) punishment ٱلسَّعِيرِ (of) the Blaze

وَمَن And whoever يُسْلِمْ submits وَجْهَهُۥٓ his face إِلَى to ٱللَّهِ Allah وَهُوَ while he مُحْسِنٌ (is) a good-doer فَقَدِ then indeed ٱسْتَمْسَكَ he has grasped بِٱلْعُرْوَةِ the handhold ٱلْوُثْقَىٰ the most trustworthy ۗ   وَإِلَى And to ٱللَّهِ Allah عَـٰقِبَةُ (is the) end ٱلْأُمُورِ (of) the matters

وَمَن And whoever كَفَرَ disbelieves فَلَا let not يَحْزُنكَ grieve you كُفْرُهُۥٓ his disbelief ۚ   إِلَيْنَا To Us مَرْجِعُهُمْ (is) their return فَنُنَبِّئُهُم then We will inform them بِمَا of what عَمِلُوٓا۟ they did ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah عَلِيمٌۢ (is) the All-Knower بِذَاتِ of what ٱلصُّدُورِ (is in) the breasts

نُمَتِّعُهُمْ We grant them enjoyment قَلِيلًا (for) a little ثُمَّ then نَضْطَرُّهُمْ We will force them إِلَىٰ to عَذَابٍ a punishment غَلِيظٍ severe

وَلَئِن And if سَأَلْتَهُم you ask them مَّنْ Who خَلَقَ created ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضَ and the earth لَيَقُولُنَّ They will surely say ٱللَّهُ Allah ۚ   قُلِ Say ٱلْحَمْدُ All praises لِلَّهِ (are) for Allah ۚ   بَلْ But أَكْثَرُهُمْ most of them لَا (do) not يَعْلَمُونَ know

لِلَّهِ To Allah (belongs) مَا whatever فِى (is) in ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah هُوَ He ٱلْغَنِىُّ (is) Free of need ٱلْحَمِيدُ the Praiseworthy

وَلَوْ And if أَنَّمَا whatever فِى (is) in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth مِن of شَجَرَةٍ (the) trees أَقْلَـٰمٌ (were) pens وَٱلْبَحْرُ and the sea يَمُدُّهُۥ (to) add to it مِنۢ after it بَعْدِهِۦ after it سَبْعَةُ seven أَبْحُرٍ seas مَّا not نَفِدَتْ would be exhausted كَلِمَـٰتُ (the) Words ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ۗ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah عَزِيزٌ (is) All-Mighty حَكِيمٌ All-Wise

مَّا Not خَلْقُكُمْ (is) your creation وَلَا and not بَعْثُكُمْ your resurrection إِلَّا but كَنَفْسٍ as a soul وَٰحِدَةٍ single ۗ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah سَمِيعٌۢ (is) All-Hearer بَصِيرٌ All-Seer

أَلَمْ Do not تَرَ you see أَنَّ that ٱللَّهَ Allah يُولِجُ causes to enter ٱلَّيْلَ the night فِى into ٱلنَّهَارِ the day وَيُولِجُ and causes to enter ٱلنَّهَارَ the day فِى into ٱلَّيْلِ the night وَسَخَّرَ and has subjected ٱلشَّمْسَ the sun وَٱلْقَمَرَ and the moon كُلٌّ each يَجْرِىٓ moving إِلَىٰٓ for أَجَلٍ a term مُّسَمًّى appointed وَأَنَّ and that ٱللَّهَ Allah بِمَا of what تَعْمَلُونَ you do خَبِيرٌ (is) All-Aware

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّ (is) because ٱللَّهَ Allah هُوَ He ٱلْحَقُّ (is) the Truth وَأَنَّ and that مَا what يَدْعُونَ they call مِن besides Him دُونِهِ besides Him ٱلْبَـٰطِلُ (is) [the] falsehood وَأَنَّ and that ٱللَّهَ Allah هُوَ He ٱلْعَلِىُّ (is) the Most High ٱلْكَبِيرُ the Most Great

أَلَمْ Do not تَرَ you see أَنَّ that ٱلْفُلْكَ the ships تَجْرِى sail فِى through ٱلْبَحْرِ the sea بِنِعْمَتِ by (the) Grace ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah لِيُرِيَكُم that He may show you مِّنْ of ءَايَـٰتِهِۦٓ His Signs ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed فِى in ذَٰلِكَ that لَـَٔايَـٰتٍ surely (are) Signs لِّكُلِّ for everyone صَبَّارٍ (who is) patient شَكُورٍ grateful

وَإِذَا And when غَشِيَهُم covers them مَّوْجٌ a wave كَٱلظُّلَلِ like canopies دَعَوُا۟ they call ٱللَّهَ Allah مُخْلِصِينَ (being) sincere لَهُ to Him ٱلدِّينَ (in) religion فَلَمَّا But when نَجَّىٰهُمْ He delivers them إِلَى to ٱلْبَرِّ the land فَمِنْهُم then among them مُّقْتَصِدٌ (some are) moderate ۚ   وَمَا And not يَجْحَدُ deny بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ Our Signs إِلَّا except كُلُّ every خَتَّارٍ traitor كَفُورٍ ungrateful

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O ٱلنَّاسُ mankind ٱتَّقُوا۟ Fear رَبَّكُمْ your Lord وَٱخْشَوْا۟ and fear يَوْمًا a Day لَّا not يَجْزِى can avail وَالِدٌ a father عَن [for] وَلَدِهِۦ his son وَلَا and not مَوْلُودٌ a son هُوَ he جَازٍ (can) avail عَن [for] وَالِدِهِۦ his father شَيْـًٔا anything ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed وَعْدَ (the) Promise ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah حَقٌّ (is) True ۖ   فَلَا so let not deceive you تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ so let not deceive you ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ the life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world وَلَا and let not deceive you يَغُرَّنَّكُم and let not deceive you بِٱللَّهِ about Allah ٱلْغَرُورُ the deceiver

إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah عِندَهُۥ with Him عِلْمُ (is the) knowledge ٱلسَّاعَةِ (of) the Hour وَيُنَزِّلُ and He sends down ٱلْغَيْثَ the rain وَيَعْلَمُ and knows مَا what فِى (is) in ٱلْأَرْحَامِ the wombs ۖ   وَمَا And not تَدْرِى knows نَفْسٌ any soul مَّاذَا what تَكْسِبُ it will earn غَدًا tomorrow ۖ   وَمَا and not تَدْرِى knows نَفْسٌۢ any soul بِأَىِّ in what أَرْضٍ land تَمُوتُ it will die ۚ   إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knower خَبِيرٌۢ All-Aware
